The amino acids of proteins isolated from numerous Saharan fossils were analyzed. Some of these fossils consisted of dermal plates of Arthrodires of Devonian age, others were bones and teeth of Cretaceous reptiles. The proteins in some specimens of both ages contained hydroxyproline and a composition approximating that of collagen; the composition of the others was that to be expected from rotted carcasses. -- AATA
