Abstract
Mercury porosimetry measurements of beech, spruce, scotch pine, and fir have been carried out. The method is based on pressure measurements to force mercury inside pores. This allows the calculation of the radius of the capillary. Curves are discussed. If sections are thin enough, the volume of pores can be measured dividing them into pit pores, rays, and tracheids.
