A survey of impregnation methods for severely worm-eaten and fragile wood in order to establish the optimum treatment conditions: the choice of a proper polar solvent together with the correspondent resin so as to obtain the best viscosity and penetration. The water-absorption capability and ageing of resins were also investigated.
