Abstract
Presents the results of in-depth research carried out on the monument to Minine and Pojarski on Red Square in Moscow. It was done by the sculptor I.P. Martos between 1804 and 1818. The state of conservation of the sculptural group, of the pedestal, foundations, and base of the monument are examined. Data were obtained for the first time on the chemical composition and structure of the copper alloy used to cast the group and the bas-reliefs. The physical and chemical properties of the alloy are studied, as is the composition of the phases and the structure of the superficial layers. Options for restoration work to be carried out are presented.
