Abstract
A shoulder-strap discovered in a grave with a man's skeletion in a 5th century burial ground at Vidgiriai (Lithuania, USSR) is the only such find in Lithuania confirming ancient-Lithunaian contacts with other nations during the period of the great migration. Physical analysis of the fragments for condition and chemical composition determined the conservation treatment by means of formic acid, autone and polybutylmethacrylate. Crusts were removed from the soft and porous silver (allayed with copper) parts by the method of peeling off a polymer coating . New leather was used for an exhibition reconstruction and a protective coating of polymer with microcrystalline was applied on the metal put on the reconstructed shoulder-strap.
