Abstract
When a painting is scheduled to travel, it requires a protective case. The Tate Gallery has designed a standard case (specifications are provided in an appendix) which was tested for the response of its interior to varying external conditions (relative humidity, shock vibration). Green describes the tests and discusses the modifications made to the case in light of their results. See also AATA 21-1880.
