Abstract
Compares the drawing, Youth with Hands Folded in Prayer, attributed to Raphael (National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa) with the Raphael Kneeling Youth in the Ashmolean, Oxford, and with the drawing of Two Angels from the Perugino workshop in the Accademia, Venice, modeled after Perugino's Baptism of Christ, 1507 (Nunziatella, Foligno). Notes the discoveryby infrared photography of wings in the underdrawing of the Ottawa figure, and indicates a break in the draperies as evidence that before the drawing was cut the figure was kneeling. Proposes that the drawing be identified as a Kneeling Angel from the workshop of Perugino, a fragment of a larger drawing after the Baptism of Christ. -- AATA
