Abstract
Following the cleaning of The Death of the Virgin (No,. 658), catalogued as by an early 16th-century follower of Campin, the technical information gleamed was assessed to try andresolve the long-standing art-historical problem of its origin. In general, the data suggest only that the work might be of any period from the 15th to the 17th centuries, almost anywhere in most of Northern Europe. -- AATA
