Abstract
Much scholarly attention has been paid to Egyptian mummies and the processes of embalming used, but much less to the making of the plaster-and-linen cases which were constructed to hold them. These latter equally show the care with which the Egyptians protected their dead for a future life. As with us, the coffin was as carefully constructed as the body was preserved. Mr. Adams reconstructs the procedure which must have been used in the making of the coffin for Shepenmut, a priestess of the temple of Amun at Thebes.
