Abstract
The Seattle Art Museum recently developed a new emergency plan. Over the course of developing the plan, the staff of the museum learned several practical lessons summarized by the following recommendations: convert the director; spread the word beyond the director to all of the staff; identify and include interested staff in plan creation; encourage staff to participate actively; recognize and decide how to deal with staff weakness; form professional partnerships to ensure plans are completed for all museums.
