Abstract
Describes laboratory equipment used to separate various rock types into separate particles along natural component boundaries using electric pulse disaggregation. Adapting methods developed to replace crushing and grinding to segregate minerals, the authors illustrate successful separation of microfossils from several rock formations. A 120kV pulse produced by an x-ray generator increased by two capacitors in a Marx circuit enclosed in a Faraday cage disaggregated the rock samples in a water bath.
