Abstract
Presents four examples of covered bridges, exemplary of those being built and rebuilt in the United States today, often employing innovative construction features combined with sound, traditional timber framing techniques. The four examples include joining timbers and gluelams at the Sturbridge Bridge, Colorado; split-ring framing in Missouri; restoring a long-truss bridge in Ripley, West Virginia; and arched timbers in Oregon.
