Abstract
Several previously published articles on dendrochronology have made various allusions to information in tree-ring analysis, but these have been of a qualitative nature. In this paper, information is employed in a quantitative manner. In particular, site chronology formation is modelled by means of time discrete Gaussian channels. Tests with specimens of oakwood of known date suggest this approach is fruitful. Some shortcomings of the model are discussed and possible applications are outlined. -- AATA
