Abstract
Since 40 years ago, when dendrochronology was introduced as a new possibility for dating wooden objects of history and art, this technique now has developed to a very valuable method of historical research. Not only for architectural history but also for art history, dendrochronology has provided new results on the dating of paintings on wooden panels and sculptures made of oak and beech.
