Of the 27,000 Polish prints existing in Polish book collections, Siniarska-Czaplicka has examined 16,310. She reports on her research activity during 1974-1980 and on the origin of the papers she examined. Italian paper was only found in prints from Cracow, produced from 1510-1550; French paper only in prints from Danzig, Thorn, and Cracow, produced in the 16th century; and Dutch paper in 3. 5 percent of the 17th and 18th century prints. German paper, mainly from Saxony and Brandenburg represented almost 15 percent of the prints. About 50 percent of the papers were Polish. -- AATA
