Abstract
Wove paper was first used by important printers and typographers. In Italy Bodoni was one of the first typographers to use wove paper. He printed a book on carta d'Annonay for the first time in 1781. From 1795-1796 on, Bodoni used carta Velina, which is thought to be a wove paper of Italian manufacture. First unsuccessful attempts to produce wove paper are said to have been made at Fabriano in 1783. Not until the winter of 1795-1796 does one hear of Pietro Miliani sucessfully producing wove paper. -- AATA
