In this review of John Taylor Arms' (1887-1953) career as printmaker, the author devotes one section to a detailed discussion of the artist's technique. Interspersed among the descriptions of his working procedures and materials are Arms' comments that reveal his keen awareness of the possibilities and limitations of each material. Also included is Arms' own record of the hours (1352 R5) spent in preparing one of his more complicated plates. -- AATA
