Any product that's potent enough to remove paint is also potent enough to cause injury. A recently published study from the Dept. of Environmental Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin has reported that, under certain circumstances, inhalation of paint-remover vapors could be lethal. According to the report, the solvent methylene chloride, a major ingredient of many paint removers, is rapidly metabolized to carbon monoxide when inhaled.
