Abstract
Brief history of museum conservation activity in Denmark in the 19th century is followed by a report on current status. In 1969, the Committee for the Coordination of Conservation in Public Institutions (which had been formed by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in 1965) published an important report calling for the establishment of a Danish school of conservation and for a reorganization of conservation at public institutions. This organization and the basic syllabus of the school, which opened in 1973, are described; an overview of public conservation facilities in Denmark today is presented.
