The cooperation among museologists, restorers, and scientists includes both research and the definition of the restoration task as well as carrying out the work. In this respect, the restorer is a partner of equal rank with the representatives of other disciplines. One's ethical attitude may be judged by the documentation one prepares. The restorer is responsible to society, but he/she may also expect the society to realize this responsibility in the protection of works of art.
