An assessment of the registration and conservation needs of museum collection in the Trondelag region of Norway was carried out. A comprehensive questionnaire was developed which is multiple choice, easy to complete, and suitable for both an electronic database and statistical analysis. The questionnaire maps both the status of the collections and the localities and buildings which contain them, and the investment needed to remedy the situation. The results have been extrapolated to represent the whole Norway, and correspond well with the results of a similar independent survey conducted in Sweden.
