Describes laboratory tests of two groups of marbles to determine provenance. Several discrepancies such as; the extreme purity of the encrustation, the presence of gypsum (calcium sulphate), pyrite was fresh--not rusted; and ultra-violet light changes indicated that the marbles were not authentic.
