Report on the treatment of a cream-coloured lace shawl dated 1830-1920. It was generally yellowed and soiled with some small hole tears and snags as well as many small orange-coloured stains. As the washing would not get rid of the orange stains which appeared not to be iron, it was decided to apply a bleaching treatment with stabilized hydrogen peroxide. The process is described in detail and the result was very satisfactory: the overall discolouration had disppeared, and many of the stains were gone.
