Abstract
Sandblasting strips away the surface of the brick and the mortar that holds the bricks together. When the skin is removed the interior is exposed resulting in the brick weathering away. Painting may be the best alternative. Allowing the old paint to weather away and scrubbing off what remains is another method. Chemical cleaners should be used cautiously. Muriatic acid should be avoided.
