Abstract
Because the site was never disturbed by subsequent urbanization in later times, Qsar es-Seghir contains a readily accessible and well preserved archeological record of its former inhabitants' activities. The project is pursuing three major goals: the description and explanation of significant aspects of Western Mediterranean society in 12th-16th centuries; the illumination of the material inventory and lifestyles of inhabitants; and the improvement and evaluation of methods of interdisciplinary research for examining the archeological remains of complex societies.
