A simple method is described, involving the use of transparent graph paper, to measure from photographs the roundness of abraded corners on a class of 16th-century Kentish jewelry (square-headed brooches). The differences between degree of abrasion on corners of the same brooches show two patterns correlating with usage, whether as single brooches or pairs. These imply two different and consistently used orientations on clothing. The method should be applicable to other classes of clothing accessories. -- AATA
