Abstract
Reference is made to the characteristics and use of standard blue-dyed cloths in monitoring exposure to light. Particular reference is made to British Standard BS1006:1961. Water color tints of alizarin and sepia are given a rating of 4 to 5 according to this standard; quercitron and gamboge, a rating of 2 to 3. Saffron and carmine were found to be even more fugitive.
