The pore structure of fifty-six potsherds of Dacian, Hellenistic, Celtic, Roman and Bronze Age origin has been investigated by mercury porosimetry. We have found that the pottery can be grouped into four categories of pore structure whith are related to the heating work'and possibly to the type of clay. This finding can be relevant for the characterization of the ancient pottery' from the point of view of their technology of manufacture.
