Abstract
The effects of air pollution, especially of sulphur dioxide, on different building materials: the quantity of damaging agents and the duration of interaction are pointed out. The weathering of Schlaitdorf sandstone employed at Cologne Cathedral and at Neuschwanstein Castle is compared.
