The article concerns only restoration of objects. In recent years this has been characterized by a uniform mentality. The 1949 museum law created a new centralized nationalized museum network; a uniform inventory system was introduced; private excavations ceased. Restoration ( completion ) problems were most intensively dealt with in the Hungarian National Museum, in its archaeological collection. In the fifties most conservators were without higher education. Since 1961, low grade conservation courses have been organized yearly. A three-level (the highest college) was introduced in 1974.
