Abstract
The problem of consolidation of polychromed wood is approached by the route: impregnation by acrylic monomers followed by radiation poly-merization. Some 15 polymers and copolymers were studied, in addition to the commerical Paraloid B72 (Acryloid B72), with various physical properties being measured. Interesting results were obtained for trial impregnations of wood; the best polymers were those of 2-ethyl hexyl-methacrylate and 1:1 butyl acrylate:ethyl methacrylate. Further work is envisaged.
