Reviews the paperback book Manual for Museums, put out by the National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior. It may appear too general at first as it attempts to cover all aspects of museum practice in one volume. A more careful appraisal reveals that the Manual is concerned with many aspects of curatorial practice which, if widely applied, could substantially reduce the need for a great deal of restoration which arises from inappropriate care.
