Abstract
A discussion of the fundamental aspects of the corrosion of silver by oxygen and hydrogen peroxide is given using elementary corrosion theory and Evans' diagrams. Possible explanations are given for anomalous results involving image-stability-enhancing treatments such as iodide and gold toning.
