Abstract
The materials and painting technique used in Bernardo Cavallino's oil painting <i>The Adoration of the Shepherds</i> are described. An x-radiograph of the entire painting, and a detailed infrared photograph of the artist's monogram (p. 208) are illustrated. The blue pigment was identified as ultramarine. -- AATA
