Abstract
The restored object is a Turkish flintlock gun with a Spanish mechanism, the main characteristic of which is the external spring system. In addition to cleaning, material tests, conservation and the replacement of the missing parts, the restoration of the richly adorned bedding was a challenging part of the procedure. Preparing and replacing the bone and brass pieces into a mosaic-like frame required adequate preparation techniques as well as the construction of special tools. See also AATA 22-399 for reference to book.
