Criticizing Guilmartin's texts (1974 and 1982) concerning bronze cannon foundry technology, this article discusses bronze cannon founding and briefly compares Ottoman and European casting techniques. Also included are references to cannon and powder types, fragmenting shot, ballistics and cannon stress analysis to prove the inaccuracies of Guilmartin's arguments. Neyled (annealed) iron guns are briefly reviewed. -- AATA
