The influence of caustic soda on the morphology of cotton fibers is explained, and the effect of the concentration and temperature of the swellling agent on the mercerizing results is described. The mercerizing procedure for yarn as well as knitted and woven fabrics is outlined, and the use of wetting agents for the mercerizing process is also described. -- AATA
