Abstract
A history tracing the development of English liturgical vestments in the Middle Ages is presented. Described in detail is an ecclesiastical garment in St. Gallen made around 1500 which features vermeil motifs sewn with colored silks onto a dark violet background. The piece, a chasuble, depicts the Acension of the Virgin Mary. -- AATA
