Abstract
Stylistic reasons are given for believing that many of the Hadra Hydriae found in the Hellenistic cemeteries of Alexandria were made in Crete. Emission spectrographic analysis compared the clay composition of a group of Hydra wares with controls from Crete and the Nile valley. Results suggest that the Hydriae were made in Crete. -- AATA
