Abstract
A general examination of the ethics of re-restoration of antiquities. The first principle is to restore the integrety and dignity of the original, but problems arise in deciding whether the object should be stripped of all earlier restorations, which form part of its history. The author recommends making a mould of pieces before cleaning or dismantling an earlier restoration. He cites examples from bronze, ceramic and mosaic restorations. References.
