Abstract
It is the author's experience that the adhesive chosen for fixing flaking paint on illuminated parchment should be insoluble in water. Two adhesives were tested: a microcrystalline wax and a mixture of five parts of beeswax to four parts of dammar resin. Results are given for two 15th-century european manuscripts.
