Abstract
This paper aims to quantify not only the chromatic attrition observed on the balcony paving of the central nave at the Basilica of the Virgen de los Desamparados in Valencia as a result of their use, but also the chromatic changes that have taken place after cleaning and consolidation processes. To fulfill our aim, four glazed tiles on one of the balconies have been chosen. One is very dirty, but not very worn as access to it is not easy. The other three present a similar degree of dirt, but show varying levels of tarnish or wear. The first of these studies is in relation to the cleaning process because to be able to analyse attrition we must eliminate the dirt factor from the study. With regard to the quantification of the variations made after the consolidation process, we have focused on those parts in which the loss of the enameled layer exposes the biscuit ware, and it is precisely those parts that are consolidated.
