Abstract
Nine natural dyes of wider use in Spanish 18 century dyeing techniques have been selected, just as the treaties of the time described, and as the specialists from that period have confirmed. These colourings were: Achiote, Saffron, Tumeric, Cochineal, Brazilwood, Weld, Safflower, Indigo and Pomegranate. The information which was found in the aforementioned treaties was useful to obtain different tones and shades of dye with a previous process optimization.
