Abstract
This paper argues that archaeologists should not try to carry out conservation treatments on their own, but that specialists from the two fields should collaborate. Uses the activities of the Maine State Museum as a case history to show how museum-deposited collections can be conserved in a manner useful for archaeological study. -- AATA
