Abstract
This article describes the mobile conservation lab program of the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Culture. Staffed by two conservators, the unit provides to the small regional museum such services as environmental monitoring; instruction in simple conservation procedures for paper and textiles; short-term, on-site conservation of paper, photographs, paintings, etc.; demonstrations of proper methods of display, such as matting and framing; preparation of slide lectures specifically for the museum's needs on preventative care for its collection; and evaluation and critique of the storage conditions of the museum. Its relationship to the Canadian Conservation Institute program is also explained. -- AATA
