Abstract
The study of corrosion products and water deposits on metal surfaces has been hampered in the past because of their fragility and their poor response to the reflected light illumination employed in metallography. The use of petrographic thin section techniques allows the transparency and birefringence of these materials to be viewed by transmitted light with enormous advantages. -- AATA
