After describing the steps involved in producing a metal casting from a model, the author sets forth the idea, backed up by the Declaration on the legal number of the casts -- sculpture and the original graphic art (which was formulated at the third International Congress of Fine Arts, Vienna, 1960), that a sculptor determines the number of identical casts of his work which can be treated as originals as well as the material and markings for each original.
