Abstract
At very low salt retentions, chir and mango treated with CCA showed excessive shrinkageand swelling which reached a maximum, then declined with increasing salt loadings; the maximum was at a different loading for each species. At higher retentions, shrinkage and swelling were less; but the wood was more hygroscopic (probably due to additional water held by the salt molecules that become deposited in the cell lumina). Equilibrium m.c. increased with increasing salt retention at every RH tested. Adsorption curves were all sigmoid. See 18-343. -- AATA
