Abstract
The discovery of the Oviedo Cathedral's Gothic choir stalls was an unusual find resulting from the authors' perseverance in pursuing information dating from 1902. The extant pieces of the stalls were disassembled, cleaned, disinfected, and finally reassembled by the substitution of good parts for deteriorated sections. Frames, struts, and moldings were repaired by the restorers. Cathedral archives furnished four 15th century documents dating the stalls and providing some information about the carvers. Information from the 19th century was available describing the victimization of the stalls. The stalls were replaced in the restored chapter house. -- AATA
