Data from the excavations of Viking Age York include measurements on large amounts of very well-preserved animal bone. This has allowed the authors to relate measurements on complete and incomplete specimens, thereby aiding in interpreting the results of smaller excavations from which complete bones are seldom recovered. -- AATA
